Volunteer
Volunteering with CVHS is an excellent way to make a positive difference for homeless animals. We always have opportunities for volunteers and have a variety of volunteer positions to choose from, so you’re assured of finding at least one that matches your skills and interests, whether its socializing dogs or cats, helping at a special event, providing a temporary foster home for a special needs animal, or small projects that can be completed at home.
Becoming a CVHS volunteer is easy. The first step is to fill out a volunteer application. These applications can be accessed via the web-site or by stopping by the humane society and requesting one at the front desk. Upon review of the application by our volunteer coordinator, you will be contacted and future efforts will be coordinated from there.
To work with our animals, volunteers must physically be able to enter and exit the kennels in a safe manner and have the ability to understand and comprehend CVHS rules and policies for their own safety and the safety of the animals.
Volunteers can be as young as 8 years old. To work with animals, however, volunteers must be at least 12 years old.  For volunteers 8-11 years of age, opportunities include, but are not limited to, helping at special events, projects at the shelter that don’t involve handling animals, and special projects that can be completed from home such as baking treats and bringing them to the adoptable animals, or a collection drive.
Volunteers younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult volunteer, at least 18 years of age, at all times. Â The adult volunteer also needs to have completed orientation and any subsequent training with their minor partner.
