Pet Therapy Provider

Status:  Volunteer
Reports to:  Executive Director
Animal Involvement:  Yes

Representative Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of those the Pet Therapy Provider will be expected to undertake and carry out.

  • Transport approved animals to the designated pet therapy facility and spend 30-60 minutes interacting with the residents there.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and task satisfactorily.  The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and abilities required.

  • Comfortable handling animals and interacting with mentally, physically or emotionally handicapped children/adults/seniors and/or people with illnesses;
  • Completion of volunteer orientation;
  • Completion of pet therapy training;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to be a team player and work with a variety of people;
  • Strong work ethic and ability to complete assigned tasks on schedule;
  • Affection for animals, concern for their welfare and a willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace;
  • A commitment to treat people and animals with respect; contribute to effective teamwork; promote cooperation; and foster public relations beneficial to the CVHS.
