Representative Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of those the Adoption Counselor will be expected to undertake and carry out:
- Interact with potential adopters in the adoption areas, assist them in finding a pet, and guide them through the adoption process.
 Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and task satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and abilities required:
- Knowledge of responsible pet care;
- Proficiency in the adoption process, including screening, interviewing, and placement of animals into adoptive homes;
- Completion of volunteer orientation;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Enthusiasm and the ability to be a team player and work with a variety of people;
- Strong work ethic and ability to complete assigned tasks on schedule;
- Affection for animals, concern for their welfare and a willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace;
- A commitment to treat people and animals with respect; contribute to effective teamwork; promote cooperation; and foster public relations beneficial to the CVHS.
