Throughout July, purchase a paper pawprint at Mister HotShine Car Wash and Lube Center, 5055 Northland Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, and support our efforts to save animals’ lives. Paws cost $1, $5, or $10, and you can write your name or your pet’s name on them and paper the walls of the car wash. You’ll also receive an exclusive offer from Mister HotShine on your receipt. Dog Obedience Training Classes

Bring out the best in your dog! Our Dog Obedience Training Classes begin in mid-August and run for seven weeks. There are two sessions: Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm beginning August 17 and Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm beginning August 18.
Classes will be taught by Gary Harrington, an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer and AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. Gary also is certified in Pet First Aid through the American Red Cross. This will be Gary's fourth year teaching at the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

Two-Day Tellington TTouch Workshop

Join Twin Cities animal expert, author, and radio host Sage Lewis, The Creature Teacher, for a fun, informative, and useful two-day hands-on workshop August 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tellington TTouch is a specialized approach to the care and training of animal companions that can help with behavior issues, noise sensitivity, separation anxiety, grooming resistance, and the like.

Drives for Lives Golf Outing

Escape from the office for the afternoon to support a good cause! Drives for Lives, Cedar Valley Humane Society’s golf outing, will be held on September 9 at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion.
You’ll have a chance to bid on a variety of items in the silent auction and the opportunity to win plenty of friendly competitions throughout the event. The fee for a foursome is $300, which includes a hearty meal for everyone afterwards. You also may register as an individual for $75, and we will pair you up. Shotgun start is at noon. 5K Fun Run/Walk and Blessing of the Animals

Want to add some excitement to your dog’s morning walk? Bring the pup to the 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, October 2! (You can participate with or without a furry friend.)
The Fun Run/Walk begins at 9:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, continues along First Avenue and the nature trail around Cedar Lake, and finishes back at the church. Check-in is from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. Afterwards, step into the main sanctuary for a Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. in honor of St. Francis Day. If you can’t bring your pet, a picture of your pet can be blessed instead.
Register for the 5K Fun Run/Walk before September 24 to get the early bird rate. To register, return the registration form and fee to Grace Episcopal Church. All proceeds benefit the Cedar Valley Humane Society and Grace Episcopal Church.
